The leakage of medical gloves mainly comes from two aspects: one is the penetration caused by the characteristics of the glove material itself, and the other is the perforation caused by external mechanical action, such as sharp medical devices. Microscopically, there are many micropores in the rubber material. If the diameter of these micropores is larger than the diameter of the bacteria/virus molecules, the latter will penetrate the glove and contaminate the skin or wound. With the extension of use time, the breathability of gloves will gradually increase.

　　Medical protective gloves Research shows that medical gloves are used for less than 15 minutes, and the leakage rate of the gloves is 29%. When used for more than 15 minutes, the leakage rate increased to 45.1%. Some medical staff even put on a pair of medical gloves to care for many patients, and reuse the gloves after washing. This long-term use and cleaning method increases the permeability of the glove material and is more conducive to the transfer of bacteria/viruses.

　　Medical gloves Another reason for the leakage of gloves is damage caused by external mechanical equipment piercing or sharp bone spurs in the body. This phenomenon mostly occurs in surgical operations. Sharp tools such as blades, sutures, scissors, bone chips, etc. are the chief culprits of injury. As the operation time increases, the probability of damage to medical gloves increases.

　　According to reports in the literature, the postoperative glove damage rate is about 13.3%~44.8%, among which the dystocia surgical glove damage rate is 20.7%, and the suture surgical glove damage rate is 50%. The damaged area is common in the index finger and middle finger. When medical gloves are obviously punctured and damaged, medical staff can find out and replace them in time. But for finer pinholes, about half of the medical staff often find them when they pressurize their gloves with water after surgery.
